GM announces mass production of electric vehicle motors in 2013
GM General Motors announced on Tuesday that it will begin mass production of electric vehicle motors in 2013, becoming the first major US automaker to be able to design and manufacture the "heart" of electric vehicles. Although almost all major automobile manufacturers in the world have already joined the wave of new energy vehicles, many have already begun to show electric or hybrid concept cars.
However, because electric motors and traditional fuel engines have completely different structures and technical foundations, automobile manufacturers often request assistance from electrical appliance manufacturers when developing electric vehicles. Obviously, only the realization of self-designed and manufactured electric motors can be regarded as having "core competitiveness" in the era of new energy vehicles.
GM said it has been researching and developing electric motor technology for many years, and is currently developing, designing and testing electric motors at its research and development centers in Michigan, Indiana and California. In the future, they will invest US $ 246 million to build a vehicle electric motor factory in the United States. The first model to use GM's self-produced electric motor will be the next-generation rear-wheel-drive dual-mode hybrid vehicle released in 2013.
