The Analysis Report on the Registration of China's Software Copyright in 2011 compiled by the China Copyright Protection Center has recently been published. In addition, the distribution of China's software copyright registration areas is uneven. In the eastern part of the economically developed areas, the amount of software copyright registrations is much higher than in the central and western regions. In 2011, 88,591 were registered in the eastern region, accounting for 81% of the total national registration, 7.9 times that of the central region and 9.7 times that of the western region.
In 2011, the number of software copyright holders in China reached 35,899, an increase of 2.2 times from 2007. Among them, the number of corporate copyright holders is growing fastest, and copyright holders are mainly concentrated in economically developed regions.

In 2011, there were 105,987 original software registrations, accounting for nearly 97%, of which application software accounted for nearly 83% of the total number of registrations; the Internet of Things grew fastest, and in 2009, there were only two software related to the Internet of Things technology. By 2011, it had rapidly increased to 688 items, which was a four-fold increase from the same period of last year. 2011 was a year in which China’s cloud computing began its rapid development.
