Mag-Lev Audio's products use the same vinyl record as a regular player, but it uses a unique electromagnetic technology to suspend the record tray in the air. In order to prevent the disc from being damaged during a power outage, it has built-in UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), users can lift the pickup arm after the external power supply is cut off, stop playing, and lower the tray tripod.
The Mag-Lev Audio player is expected to sell for $1,390. Supporters at Kickstarter will pay a much lower price. They can buy a black version for $880 and a man-made wood version for $940. Early supporters can enjoy early bird prices, with black and artificial wood versions as low as $780 and $840 respectively.
Mag-Lev Audio has set a crowdfunding target of $300,000 for this product and raised $5,000 in one day. The deadline for this project is Nov. 21, and it is not difficult for such an interesting project to reach the goal of crowdfunding.
