STMicroelectronics (ST) has introduced a complete and configurable LED streetlight solution that enables developers to develop and efficiently control dimmable high-brightness LED street light strings (up to 100W). The plug-and-play streetlight design is based on ST's award-winning STLUX385A digital power controller, highlighting the product's ability to optimize LED energy efficiency and minimize power consumption in idle conditions at any brightness.
The reference design includes a full schematic, bill of materials, and firmware list that allows designers to quickly develop 100W LED lamp digital power controllers using STMicroelectronics' world's first universal lighting and power conversion digital controller, the STLUX385A.
Within this solution, the STLUX385A controller handles the primary-side regulation (PSR) power conversion stage and all communication links. The power conversion stage consists of a PFC regulator followed by a zero-voltage switching (ZVS) LC resonant stage. The high-accuracy dimming function uses primary side adjustment control technology.
The display board provides all important communication interfaces, such as the Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI), Isolation 0-10 and UART. All communication functions are managed by the STLUX385A. The STLUX385A's connectivity is extremely flexible, making it easy to connect other interfaces to the board, such as Wi-Fi, power line communication modems, Bluetooth, and ZigBee. The STEVAL385LEDPSR display board is now available for order.
